“In a dark time, the eye begins to see.” -Theodore Roethke

Who
i am…

Despite the continuous noise and seemingly endless and ever worsening atrocities churning from the chyron, I believe that most people are essentially decent and kind; that we are doing the best we can with the tools we have against the continuous, abusive onslaught of the very people we put in positions of power. The privileged, monied minority keep telling us they have the support of untold weaponized masses. I have to believe that is a lie and continue to have hope that this country will finally find its way away from the centuries of, what photographer Matt Black termed, the “American Mythology,” towards the truth in its own words and what it could one day become. I have hope that this will be sooner rather than later as time is running out. Is it true that when we know better, we do better? I photograph what I see. I often choose to stay local to reduce car travel and certainly do not fly. You may see this in my work. Perhaps these images, in all their ugliness or beauty, their darkness and light, their repetition and uniqueness will speak to you in some way.
