Despite the continuous noise and seemingly endless and ever worsening atrocities churning from the chyron, I believe that most people are essentially decent and kind; that we are doing the best we can with the tools we have against the continuous onslaught of the very people we put in positions of power. The powerful keep telling us they have the support of the masses. I have to believe that is a lie and continue to have hope that this country will finally find its way away from the centuries of mythology toward what it could one day be. I have hope that this will be sooner rather than later. I believe that when we know better, we do better. I photograph what I see. I often choose to stay local to reduce car travel and hope the images, in all their ugliness or beauty, their darkness and light, their repetition and uniqueness speak to you in some way.
